Don David Reserve Malbec 2022
I had a good friend that got me onto Malbec as a red wine. I would have to say it now ranks as one of my favorite red grape varieties. The Don David Reserve Malbec 2022 from Calchaqui Valley Argentina didn’t disappoint one bit.
I found the Don David Reserve Malbec 2022 to be a complex wine. by that I mean there were competing tastes to it. It’s full-bodied and deep with berries and herb flavors throughout.
It’s a bottle that can be enjoyed over a few nights. It doesn’t need to be completed in one sitting.
It went fantastic with some friends on a Saturday night and an eye fillet steak with pepper sauce. If you like red wines like merlots, cabernet, or complex blends. This would be a perfect bottle for you.
About the Malbec grape variety
Malbec deeply purple-colored grape variety. Known for the grape’s dark inky color and very robust tannins. Malbec is one of six grapes only allowed in a Bordeaux wine blend. As a grape, it’s grown mainly in the southwest of France in the Cahours region.
As it has grown in worldwide popularity it’s mainly known now as an Argentine varietal. It’s a very thin-skinned grape that needs more heat and sun than Cabernet Sauvignon or Melot.
Don David Reserve Malbec From The Bottle
David Michael was the key man in the history of our winery. Upon his arrival from Grane during the second half of the 19th Century. He was a pioneer in planting quality vines in the Calchaqui Valley.
Don David, a premium range of wines, honors his memory. Aged in contact with new oak for 12 months this wine has a lively red color with violet notes, red berries, and arid climate dried herbs aromas.
The taste is full of soft sweet tannins with a touch of fresh fruits. Ideal to combine with beef, cheese, and mushrooms.
