Yalumba Merlot 2013 The Y Series

By on January 11, 2016 in Merlot, Red Wine with 0 Comments

Growing up, my dear mother always said you can’t win them all.  Well choosing wine is no different I have tasted plenty of different wines, I can remember 4 bottles that I could not finish.  This 2013 Yalumba Merlot The Y Series is one of those bottles.

This was bought for a visit my mum did early this year, we bought it at the local Dan Murphy’s managed a glass and a half out of the bottle and tipped the rest down the sink.  YES people we didn’t even try to cook with it, you know that a bottle is bad when you don’t even cook with it.

I am not sure what it is, maybe if it matured for a few more years, maybe it was that fact that it was a hot day in January when we tried it, what ever the reason it wen no where, a true failure.  I also have to point out that I am not a big fan of Yalumba wines regardless.

From The Bottle

Significantly, the individual icons on each Y Series label reflect the labours, inventive thinking and aspirations of all at Yalumba.  This Merlot depicts a winery dog.  It could be a Flash, a Nugget or an Archie type dog.  With its wet nose, soft fur and sparkling, clear eyes, the dog is a reminder of loyal and long term relationships.  A halllmark of the Yalumba culture. Experience risch flavours of blackcurrants and black cherries.
