Santa Julia Reserva – Malbec 2014

Santa Julia MalbecA long time ago, in a land far far away, I had a friend ( No longer a friend ), swung me onto Malbec, as a wine variety it is the best that Chile has to offer.  I have actively tried to buy a Malbec whenever I need a bit of comfort.

Generally Malbec is a purple grape variety used in making red wine. The grapes tend to have an inky dark color and robust tannins, and are known as one of the six grapes allowed in the blend of red Bordeaux wine. The French plantations of Malbec are now found primarily in Cahors in South West France. It is increasingly celebrated as an Argentine varietal wine and is being grown around the world.

This was a purchase with the Lazy Day, for no other reason then it was time to drink some wine.

From The Bottle

This Malbec is a full body Red Wine with aromas and flavours of plum, spice and vanilla.  Our passion for wine was born more the 50 years ago when my grandfather planted his first vineyard in Mendoza.  Since we aim to produce wines that express the uniqueness of our region with respect for the environment. – Julia Zuccardi
