Hopes Semillon Sauvignon BlancGetting of the Sauvignon Blanc train for a change, it was time for another  Semillon Sauvignon Blanc so I decided on a Hopes Folly Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2013.  From the 21st Century Wines range in Victoria Australia. it was not bad.  A Sunday afternoon wine with a bowl of freshly peeled prawns.

To be honest, I liked it, its a step away from a Sauvignon Blanc – Semillon hails from the French region of Bordeaux where it is used to make great dry whites and sublime dessert wines. In Bordeaux, Botrytisaffected Semillon is blended with small amounts ofSauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle to produce sweet white wine of Sauternes, the most famous, and expensive, being Château d’Yquem.

From The Bottle

A classic Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, this wine was produced from estate grown grapes in South Eastern Australia.  It exhibits a medium straw green color with a citrus and melon palate, and is an ideal accompaniment with seafood or spicy Asian Dishes.
